Language Sample Deletions

Every month or so, I take language samples to get a glimpse of Nolan's general language and any areas that might need some work. Frankly, his language is really awesome, so there are only little things to work on at this point in his young life. Things like articles, pronouns (everyone is a "he"), and other grammar issues common to all three year old children. He also has a nasty habit of being very, very honest. Recent items I'd like to delete from the September Language Sample:

  • You have a squishy belly, Mom.
  • That man smell like poo-poo.
  • [Hand in diaper] I can't find my marbles!
  • I find my boogers in my nose!
  • That man have big booms.*
  • [Singing loudly in the store] I go pee pee in the potty PEE PEE PEE PEE!
  • Why he don't have hair on his head?

  • One day, if we're lucky, he'll learn that discretion is the better part of valor. Until then, I have to come to terms with my squishy belly. It might be time for me to get a gym membership!

*The "man" was a very burly woman in the local mall. With large "booms." She was not amused.

Tell him the squishy belly is his fault.

It's cute for all of us to read though!
We've gotten over the loud honesty pretty much, but every once in a while it creeps back in. "Turds falling out" and what not. At least it give us stuff to write about!

I almost spit my drink all over the computer monitor! "big booms" lol
It doesn't get better for quite some time. Olivia is 7 now and we went to a farm this weekend and there was a sheep with horns and Olivia says loudly "Mom, I'm going to name him Horny!" "Come here Horny!"

I am almost crying because I'm on Cute Overload.

X is fascinated and also enamored by my squishy belly. And I have told him several times, "You did that to Mummy." It'll stay sweet until he touches a less familiar woman's belly, and then we'll have to have a little chat. Better yet, we'll add not touching sensitive lady parts to his JTC "Oh No! Uh Oh!" behaviour/experience book!

Hilarious!!! Actually, Ben is so hypersensitive about toileting that I would be thrilled if he sang loudly about urination while in public -- at least the first time, although I'm guessing it would get old in a hurry. (BTW, I hope he found his marbles.)
