Speech Sample

I finally found our "little camera" that has a video function. Here's a sample of Nolan's speech at 23 months of age. It is quite long, so some of the captioning might not match perfectly with the video. He is probably above average for expressive language, but you can see his tendency to simply repeat questions rather than process the information and give an answer. I've heard this is not uncommon for hard of hearing kids, so we'll see what happens with a few more months of growth and speech therapy!

That's great Leah! He's doing so well!!! I love how he asks, "what's that?" so much ... you can just see his little inquisitive self wanting to take so much in! What a smart little boy!

Julie, he ate about five of those puppies! On Sunday, we went to Erie and he ate an insane amount at Panera Bread- well, a normal amount, but that is HUGE for us! I think the DuoCal might be helping to get him used to taking in more calories, if nothing else!

To everyone else- we love the fact that he's doing so well! We're working on some of the verbal processing things, but that could be age rather than hearing loss at work. I've never had a talking 2 year old before, lol! Today he came to me and told me, "Mama, Matthew need go away!" ROFL! Five words I'm quite proud of, even if I don't approve of the message, lol!!

Oh that's hilarious!

And, to put things in perspective, my youngest hardly spoke at all until he was two years and two months and he hears normally.

Nolan is doing great :0)

i think for just a nearly 2 yr old he is fantastic. Prisha listened to him too and noticed his HA and said he too has them like her.Grt going, i think soon he would be getting there where we all are aiming. His intonation, syllable in the sentences he ueses, clarity is too good.
