Finally - Back to "Normal"

Oh, I love the Mic-Key button. It is so much nicer than the log PEG tube. Nolan wasn't happy (to say the least) about having the tube change done, but I am glad it is done and over with. The tape used to hold the g-tube in place while he was at school left a lot of adhesive residue. He's also allergic to adhesive (even the hypo-allergenic tape causes a reaction), so he has some open sores on his belly. His little tummy should heal up over the next few days and I'll use some baby oil or adhesive remover to get the "gunk" off.

He had some bloating last night and didn't eat dinner, but fortunately ate his breakfast this morning. The nurse comes this afternoon to help us set up his equipment.

My skin does the same thing with adhesives. It's horrible and I feel so so bad for Nolan. The only thing I've found that doesn't do terrible things to my skin is KT Tape. My wrist was bothering me and a PT friend asked if he could tape my wrist. I was wary but he tried a little piece of tape on the inside of my elbow; we waited 10 minutes (about 9 minutes longer than it takes for me to start itching/hurting). He taped up my wrist and it stayed on 3 days before it fell off on its own. No itching, no breaking out, no pain...it was awesome.

Thanks, spherescamp- I'll have to look for KT tape. Hopefully we'll always have a button to go to, though, because the PEG tube was a bit of a pain!

If Nolan can handle gentle rubbing, soak the residue as best you can to get it nice and soft then buff it with a pumice stone. I still had tape goo 3 weeks after my hospital visit. Grabbed the pumice one day figuring wth and it worked so well I use it on Lauren after her cardio appointments. Glad he's feeling better though. Hope he can build his appetite.

Hurray for the mic-key! And so sorry for his sore tummy. But can I just say again how adorable he is?!

I know it's totally inappropriate, but I can't help but think of the recurring line "Eat well, my pretty chicken! Get nice and fat for my stew!" from the book _The Wolf's Chicken Stew_. No, I have no intention of consuming your child! But here's hoping to weight gain, energetic mornings, and a totally revitalized kid.
