Germs, Germs, Go Away

School started about a month ago, which means that the lovely back-to-school viruses have been making their rounds. I hate colds, because Nolan gets sick even when it isn't cold and flu season. And when he gets sick, he is usually sicker for longer than the rest of us.

I was pleasantly surprised that Nolan didn't catch the latest bug, and whispered a quiet prayer of thanks, since his surgery is fast approaching. Then he woke up this morning. To say he was cranky would be a vast understatement.

We survived shopping at Wegman's, with a screaming child throughout the store. Then I took a closer look at him and saw the red circles under his eyes. By the time we got home, his nose was running. He felt a little warm. He is still very, very cranky.

Dear Mr. Cold Virus,

Please be gone by October 12, and please do not cause another infection in Nolan's (tubeless) ears.

Thank you very much,

Nolan's Mommy.

Yikes -- I bet he's unhappy. We've had a few sniffles since we started preschool, but nothing major, knock on wood. Here's hoping Nolan fights this one off before surgery day.

I think your letter to Mr. Cold Virus was extremely polite. We are in the same situation and I may be composing my own version very soon, as X has been constantly sick with colds and undiagnosable respiratory ailments since he started school. He has already missed half of his days and several hearing related appointments, as you've probably read. We have now rebooked all of the appointments and I'm desperately hoping that he will be healthy for them, but things are not looking good. Thankfully, our awesome pediatrician will be returning from holidays for an appointment with us on Friday, and I'm hoping we don't need to make a trip to the ER before then.

I really, REALLY hope Nolan gets better quickly and is well enough for all of his appointments. Let me know if Mr. Cold Virus responds. He probably has several mail bags full of letters to sort through.

It's impossible (or seems like it) when they're in school. Julia is fighting something too and it's all I talk/read about is this late September/early October cold. It's starting WAY too early.

I hope he kicks this one quick!

Ugh. I didn't let anyone in my house the week before one of Noah's surgeries because I was so scared that she was going to catch something. Hope he is well!

Poor Nolan. Luca has had a cold now for a few days and no preschool for him today. Poor mommy! We haven't been able to get a hearing test done now for 2 months b/c he's had a cold each time.

Nolan is talking so much! Yeah.
