Battery doors and two year old boys don't mix. Thank goodness for the electrical tape, which should keep the aid functional until we see the audiologist in a week and a half!
What a hassle! Ben's battery doors have never actually broken, although they do get looser over time. We recently sent both of his aids (we still have his old right one as a back-up) in for service, because the warranty ends in December. (We sent them in one at a time.) They came back with nice, tight battery doors. It won't last, of course.
Oh no , not again! I really hope this problem gets solved for good. I think the guys should make them child lock proof.Fortunately Prisha though is not allowed to open them, but I have taught her how to change the batteries as the teacher in school refused to learn it.

I was worried that our Dry and Store might have weakened the plastic doors, but I watched Nolan break this door. It isn't the Dry and Store's fault- our boy took his aids out, then trampled them while making a "fort." The pressure of his foot on the BTE case caused the door to snap open- thank goodness only the door broke!
For a good mental image, picture a rambunctious 2 year old and a mother yelling "Noooooooooooo!" as she sprints across the room. I didn't make it there in time!
Julia- we will probably try to make it to the playgroup in early December again. I might make it a monthly thing :-)
ugh! Boys will be boys and anything they can trample (knowing mom won't like it) they do. Aiden has bitten off all the receiver covers on his CIs and is now becoming a pro at biting the battery out! When he sees me coming, he throws it and smiles like "I wasn't doing anything I promise!"
Okay, you're not going to believe this, but I think those are the EXACT same hearing aids that The Beast wears in his left ear. And we have the SAME problem. So, the good news is that Nolan isn't the only one with that problem. The bad news is that six year olds and hearing aids don't always mix any better than two year olds.
Aimee, they're Unitron Element 8's- our audiologist recommended them because they're supposed to be sturdy, lol! Of course, they've been OK except for the battery door issue... hopefully we will get them fixed and won't have another problem for a long time!
I hope they were able to fix that... We have been blessed with Buddy we never had had that in 5 years... Knock on wood since we have no insurance on them. Looks like NOlan is doing good.. I havent looked at your blog for awhile..
Oh man. I was wondering if we may someday have the same predicament. Sigh. Sorry it took so long to respond to your post on my blog. It was nice to hear from someone else dealing with similar situations. I've enjoyed reading your blog!
